Hey Fyred-up!

Well come to journal's world.

Mind is on DEC 26. We can talk about it.

How is your study going?

How was your UW scores. I got only 60%(second time)

First of all, calm down ( easy to say I know ), but you must really stay calm, than gather the confidence. You must believe , that you can really do it, nothing on earth can stop you from that ! And panic will not help you, I'm sure you know that all pretty well, so stay calm, use the remaining days wisely, don't have advise on that... but if you feel too nervous, and can not focus on letters, listen to audio ( kaplan or Goljan ), that might put you back on track...

Stay calm, confident, focused, and pray, believe in success= formula of the winners.

i agree with GG. panic will not help you. if you getting a good score, i think you should try as much possible to stay focused and study. i am in a bad situation, but i still havent started panicking, i guess i cant imagine how big the exam is and how small i am, well, by that i dont want to scare u more. getting scared is normal behavior i guess, but dont loose your cool, rather use it as inspiration to do more until last breath.
goodluck.smiling face

Thnx SJ, GG and AP.. This is exactly what i wanted to and needed to hear (and hopefully more closer to the test date) cause knowing that you're not alone could help out in bigger ways than one can imagine. I did panic and wasted some time as I suppressed everything related to exam. Also i feel that im behind on schedule which is probably what triggered it. I read somwhere that not to tell yourself im only going to study this much today. So im jus gonna keep on going.. do as much as i can throughout the day. Jus to give you guys heads up.. i used one text per subject..

Anatomy/Histo/Embryo - Kaplan + FA
Biochem/mol.bio/genetics - Kaplan + FA
Micro - MMRS + FA
Immuno - Lange (some) + FA
Physio - BRS
Path - Goljan RR + audio
Pharm - Lippincott (some) + FA
Mol. bio. - HY mol.bio, edition 1
Neuro - HY neuro

UW - avg. btw 60-70 but did get 48 once, all else above 55. Since im using this as a learning tool, i do questions the next day on subject studied.. not relying caring about score as assessment.

NBME - coming up in 1 wk, week before exam.

I'll try to keep my cool and accept this is all normal.. its funny how i told everyone around me not to talk to me yet here i am.. thnx everyone. Any advice on how to go through FA.. how many times (reading speed) or go through it slow one time? I have qbook as well, would it be worth it to go through it?

fyred up, i think you are in great position, since ur uw score is high in first time, so just keep going. fa, it differed from person to person, some said 2 to 3 times. some who didnt do it earlier just go before the week, well i started earlier, my target is 3 time. i did one time.since i dont read big books anymore.GL to ur studies.

Hi FU!

Check out these questionsgrin

1) What's the differece between Familial hyperparethyriodism and primary hyperparathyroidism?

2)What's the difference between De quervain's and Hashimoto thyroiditis?

Keep going!!

  #9

thnx for the q's.. lets keep em comin..

1) primary Hyperparathyroidism - increased PTH - so hypercalcemia, hypophosphatemia, usually adenoma, you got the stones groans moans and bones.

Need help on the familial hyperparathyroidsim part. is it same as secondary which you get cause of renal failure.

2) Dequervains - it could be temporary, comes after flu (virus), makes you "quiver" - so painful
Hashimoto - autoimmune, painless, hypothyroid symptoms except when it ruptures, then opp. antimicrosomal ab.

Familial hyperparathyroidism

:Ca receptor insensitivity in Parathyroid gland so negative feedback can't be created. you're gonna have hypercalcemia hypophosphatemia hyperPTH but hypocalciuria.

Helloooooo

  #20

hi scareless johan...!!
i read in ur other post tht u too are doing kaplan qbank but not the free one...
hows it gng??
i m scoring 72 approx....is it good or i need improvement??
thanx!!

  #21

Hi there, where are u?how is study?

question for u,2nd msnger for ANP and what other hormones it affects and how,(dec or inc)

and what is phospholamban?

take care!

  #22

ANP is NO i think.. along with EDRF... ANP is released by the heart when there's a decrease in blood volume or when theres a heart failure. it keeps renin on check. i can see how aldosterone level would be low by JGA sensing it but not really cause of ANP. Phospholamban.. hmm.. i think i may need to look this one up.. sounds familiar.. i guess this is part where i pray i see an association with one of the answer choices. lol.. thnx for the q's. wink

ps: i fear i have less time to cover the things i want to in a day so didnt visit here yesterday. i gotta finish repro, GU, musc/derm today along with uw explanations.. got tons of work ahead.. shocked

  #24

hey fyred up when the D day? anways i hope u r working hard...keep it up n good luck

  #25

Hi F_U nope,ANP is secreted upon sensing volume overload, great vol in heart, and in response to it,it inhibits 3 hormones===>ADH,Renin,Aldosterone==>inc urine output, inc na+ excertion, keep BP in control(rest u know how each works)

and phospholamban-do read it.

yes its okay,as ur time is approaching u should spend more time with revision and last 2days just chill out(i dont know practically possible or not but all passers say so smiling face )have great study tiem and stay cool!
