just just study first aid for step 2cs, you r not gonna get any case out of it.especially do the 31 cases at the end and practice them with a friend.dont mess up with other lenghty books with difficult and alot of cases.the cases at the end of first aid are very very high yield and they are sufficient .just do them with afriend for 3 -4 times{dont listen to your gut feeling of studying difficult and many cases + do videocd of usmle world cs}. dont forget the following {necessary to pass} 1}draping{the first thing to do when u enter the room}..ask them if they are comfortable do good acting and then tell them i wanna drape you to make u even more comfortable... 2..washing hands....looking at the patients face while examining... 3.always smiling {almost the most important thing to do}........always educating the patient about smoking etc....think that patients are like kindergarten kids in all kinds of moods and you are a loving teacher to them it may b a wierd example but never mind 4 always do running commentary of what u r doing and explain the medical terms in lay terms for example for colonoscopy say passing a tube up you behind and so on and so forth}.. do especially the three fatigue cases in first aids last 31 cases. try to practice writing in first aid there is space given in that book for just that and there are sample patients notes for comparison to your notes that you have written. if you just practice the 31 cases at the end of first aid it is good enough but do it in allotted time with afriend and then write down the patients notes if u can i hope this is gonna lessen the burden of many people who are about to start the prep for cs good luck to all of you

zaid, A lot of people use FA only, I did so too however I would advise you to get a second source like UW. I think you should start out by memorizing the DD's and reading the exam protocol. Then when you have mastered them you should practice the cases at the end of the book on your own and when you feel comfortable and you're not missing any vital questions you can practice with a study partner, friend or relative. The whole point of practicing with someone is to simulate the real exam. You should time yourself and take notes of things you miss and the mistakes you do. There is not a lot of time to think during the exam, your efficiency with a study partner will most likely reflect your efficiency during your encounters. I practiced my entry, hand shake, greetings, physical, etc... I did them exactly the same during the encounters.

mildanemia has his own point of view but i think me and him are on the same page on most of the things. and zaid u really need a friend to practice. but i will say that first aid alone is ok.take a friend and start.u can memorize dds when u do the last 31 cases.and even if u wanna start your prep with memorizing dds first aid provides that for u as it has dds of most of symptoms in initial pages.+answer to difficult question are better in first aid than u w u need a friend to prepare zaid if u dont have one make one.and practice so much that it becomes your second nature. you can practice on some family members if u have in dubai best of luck feel free to ask any thing i will not advise u to mess your self with u w . but still if you wanna study u w and you have time for it i think that there will be no harm in doing it

There is not a single and correct way to prepare for the exam, obviously developing your own approach according to your time frame, resources and personality will be optimal. Me and Timhal used FA on it's own, we both passed. I felt uncomfortable during the exam because I had 2-3 cases that were not listed in FA, that is why I feel compelled to make it clear that although I only did FA I would advise others to check out UW. That is only due to the fact that they have a few extra cases. CS was my first exam so compared to other examinees with step 2 under their belt I was at a disadvantage.

Thanks guys.I will start with FA on my own and in the meantime search for a study partner.i will focus on mastering the basics as pointed out by mildanemia and try and simulate everything i've learned with a partner trying to find out my weak spots and mistakes that should be corrected before the real exam. Thanks again to both of you and i will post any inquiries i get along the way.GL to all.

2-4 weeks seem enough. You don't need a study partner, you just need a partner to practice with.
