Hi everyone,
I am a new member - just starting out my prep for step 1. I heard that recently the format of the 2007 Kaplan books has been changed so they are now available system-wise as a set of 4 books instead of the prior set of 7 subject-wise books? is that true? if it is, are the dvd lectures also systemwise now?
I am currently doing research in the US (post med school) and hope to apply for the match next year... really need to get my act together and seriously prepare for the exams... so any help form someone who recently used the kaplan books would be appreciated!!
thanks

One set (four volumes) is called Home Study Program and the other (7 or 8 volumes) are the Lecture notes. I recently wondered about this myself and just got this email from Kaplan:

"... Both set of books cover the same amount of material. The main difference is that the Home study books are organized in organ systems, while the Lecture books are organized by discipline. Also the Lecture books have been designed to work hand in hand with those students attending the live courses. ..."

Hope this helps. I have yet to decide which one to use. If they really contain the same material then I am probably going with the HSP as my curriculum is organised by organ systems, too, and I am used to that system, sort of.
