oh good gracious !! i cant even imagine how u must be feeling right now!! i will be freakin out like you as well when im tht close to my exam ...but just beleive in urself and u will be fine ..u have done a lot of hard ork and in few days struggle time is going to be over and good and happy times will come when u will have ur result so keep doing the hard work !!! GL

alrite guys im done with 2 audios of goljan and 60 pages of kaplan physio ...im so exhausted ,i dunno why and i didnt even read tht much ...well beginning is always slow and tiring but i have to cope with this and make it my habit and keep on increasing my speed evry day by day for next 5 months !!!
oh i hate when i get tired cuz i cant read and neither can i sleep in peace cuz thinking about step 1 and guilt of getting tired sooo soon  !! i have to make myself get used to 8-9 hrs of reading daily ......plz god give me the courage and potential !! alrite gn all ....

alrite its 12th dec today and i will finish till cardio phys and do 1 gljan audio and read the same from the book ......and then at the end do 50 q's today .....i have to make my self used to sit at a place for long hrs without taking long breaks ..... ....thats my target today and will finish it no matter what comes in btw .....will update when i will finsh it at the end of the day !!

i have subs to UW 3 months,but doing kqbank sos(need to do that regularly too,as i find their questions not less challenging).

hey cutekity..
hope prep is going well.. when you do 50q's at the end of the day, pls do know that you will be using short term memory so in case if you're intending to know how much you have learned, this may not be a good idea as it may give you a false idea. If you are learning off the questions however, saying to yourelf "now that i read the material.. lets see how can they ask a question about it, how to recall and integrate, and reviewing what you studied in a question/answer format" then youre right on the spot. In case you want to assess yourself or see if understand it on the long run, give a day or two to do questions on it. hmm.. now that you've done cardio phys.. both lil tricky..
a) when would the coronary arteries extract most 02, systole or diastole and why.
b) what heart sound do you hear when aortic valve "opens" and when it "closes".
did you know that in usmle both AMG's and IMG's have problems with cardio questions more than any other.. and to think #1 cause of death is heart disease.

thnx KG , and this is to you fyred up .....ummmm lemme try ur questions !~
first one thats coronary arteries extract most oxygen in diastole cuz thats whe they fill up and extraction is maximum and thats why venous po2 is low coming out from heart ....systole it doesnt fills up cuz of mechanical compression of coronary vessels !!
second one wt heart sound we hear when aortic vale closes is S2 ( because its due to closure of valves) and when aortic valve opens we hear S3 which is normal in children ( i think )
i dunno if im right but plz do tell me cuz i answered it without referring from anywhere !! thnx

what a co incidence,i just pop into your journal and see those words i just posted on Fyred up's journal..... first thing.... shock.... and then a smile.... i'm glad if you could find motivation in those words. i'd read them somewhere and wrote them down.... they help me in my tough times... hey i have a wall paper i created exclusively with some inspirational thoughts...shall i send it to you?

hey cutekity.. its great that you were able to extract info out of your brain than jus looking up on the textbook. as for the first q, when i was asked the same q, i said the same thing.. but the guy who asked me said.. boards know you studied it but they want you to go to the next level of thinking.. ie second step.
We know that coronary vessels dilate during diastole.. hence thats when the blood comes in. And at systole, you get the block. therefore more "o2 extraction" happens when blood is kinda at a stasis mode (at systole) than when coming in (at diastole) and thats what the question is going for.
second q.. yup.. you got it right.. jus add to your notes that you cant hear any heart sound when the valve is opening.. that was the tricky part. and if you do, thats pathologic, ie stenosis. you are right on the money with s3 - you do hear em in kids and young adult(mostly females because of estrogen connection) and its normal. any other times would be pathologic. s3 is heard when ventricle is being filled.

thnx ms dv !! yeah im doing first read of physio and the this is the first subject i strted !! i see ur doing physio revisiona s well ..please do ask me q's randomly on physio if u have any cuz in tht way i can keep check if im going in right direction !
when are you taking the test ??and for how long did u take for ur first read and did u subscribe for kaplan q bank for 1month or 3 months ? and when and for how long are you going to subscribe UW ??
i know tooo many q's i have asked you but kinda confused right now when to do kaplan qbank and when to do UW and for how long suld i take for my 1st read !!

jus checkin in.. make sure you plan out how its going to be. sticking to it is going to be one helluva a job so make sure you plan out days that says "catch up days" and "off days" too.
