I've had a number of interview days so far and this has been a recurring problem that I have seen.

Other applicants that you will see during your interviews may be from the same country, speak the same language, etc. Please, please, please do not speak your home language during the interview day. Hello's when you greet are fine, but after that all the conversations - even between each other - should be in English.

I had 4 applicants from country A, 2 from country B - which all spoke the same language, and several others in the room. The 6 persons who all spoke the same language used it throughout the day - excluding the others from their conversation.

Please keep this in mind as you go to your interviews.

Thank you

I met a guy at one of my interviews and he kept talking to one of the residents(they were classmates from med school)) in a language which i've picked up over the years altho it isnt my mother tongue .. he was talking about the other applicants, some of the residents and also some of the staff . most of the stuff he was saying wasn't very polite .. the resident was clearly trying to avoid him by answering in english or not answering at all ! later during the day i casually told him that i spoke that language as well .. he didnt say a word in it after that ...

would love to have him as a co-residentgringrin

what is even more irritating is that people who do this (sometimes)actually are aware that this is not proper, but still do it..i mean after being here in the US, interviewing at places, reading the forums etc..anybody can deduce that it's not fair..still they do it...i mean if I answer in english whatever launguage the qs are asked in...dont that give out a clear signal>>hello???..
