Ok so I read in the FA, that if you freak out and leave in the middle of your step 1, that No score is reported. If this is the case, and this happens, or someone leaves their exam for whatever reason, my understanding is that their transcript for their USMLE will always say the test was taken but not completed (on their first attempt) and no score will be reported. Is this correct? Also, does anyone know how detrimental such an occurrence would be as compared to failing step 1 (having finished the exam).? Im asking this for a friend who was too scared to ask himself. Thanks so much.

Sorry to bump this...but still waiting for some input. Sorry....does anyone know of anyone who walked out of their exam and received a no-score, and then took it again? How did this impact their chance at a residency? Is it worse to do this than to have a bad step 1 score?

No personal experience.but I feel It won't be worse than really bad step score because you could have not finished the exam for some other reason ( say medical reason ) also and the reason won't be posted on transcripts. what you say??

if you do fail it, is that failing mark forever on a USMLE transcript, or does it disappear when you do ultimately pass it?
