Recurrent UTI's in women, what is best next step?

VCUG or IVP or renal ultrasound??

  #2

think it got to be IVP,
not only tells the etiology, that is stones, reflux...etc. it also tells the degree of damage to the kidney....

  #3

only problem, that it is INVASIVE.
another option which is more cost effective than the conventional IVP is combination of KUB and USG. and is non invasive too.

if relapse in 2wks after treatment - continue Tx for 2 more wks and obtain culture

otherwise treat as uncomplicated cystitis

If pt has more that 2 UTI per year - give chemoprophylaxis
