hi my friends,

I make this thread to:

1. Make a line to enocourage old IMGs who are discourage of notmatching situation that there are successful candidates!

2. To let old IMGs know which programs may consider them for residency to save money, time, etc.

So, you my friends, please share your experiencs. Please share as many credentials as you do not mind and name of the program. People with same credentials can make better decision, at least next year.

God bless you all and help you in your application.

Good Luck

2001 graduate and called this "old"? Then here comes grandma with her credentials: 1991 graduate, step 1 211/87 second attempt, step 2 212/87. application complete on November 10. Green card. No clinical activities in USA, lots of cancer prevention research, publication and program coordination.

Applied to 10 Family Medicine and 10 Transitional in September, but ECMFG certified only November 10. Before the ECFMG certification: no interview, 2 rejections (both Transitional). After the certification I sent reminders to program coordinators/directors, which generated two more rejections and one interview. I have a couple of programs to which I was "encouraged" to apply by the Program Director or another physician in the committee, and which have not sent me anyhting yet. Perhaps no news is still good news.

Well, just got my second interview, from one of the two programs in which basically I have connections (perhaps more than that, I designed CE programs for their residents and I submitted research proposals with their faculty). At this point I feel they could not avoid inviting me for the interview, but the final decision is a whole different story.
