Depends what fellowship you are looking for and what is your credentials in that field and who supports you.
eg: If you are looking for fellowship like Cardio/ Gastro I can certainly say to some extend it is really difficult if not impossible. On the contrary some of the fellowship such as tranplant where there is less taker you will have a favourable chances provided you have a good track record and strong LOR. As such you are eligible to apply for fellowship once you completed the USMLE. done Graduate education in that field. Other thing you can do is you go to individual website , (not that amany, so should be easy) look what they looking for, do a research on it. you will get an idea.Hope this helps.

what do you gonna do after the fellowship?

I saw a credential of a guy who was doing his residency in their homecountry, then into the research in the US, then into a fellowhip and at the and into the residency in the US. It is in ophthalmology, where it is really hard for IMG to get into it.

i might go back 2 my home country after da fellowship.

I know a guy who did Internal Medicine and Cardiology in his home country, then Eletrophysiology fellowship in USA and stayed working in this specialty. So, it is possible.

The problem with doing a fellowship without the IM residency in the USA, is that you cannot take the ABIM boards for the fellowship without taking the IM boards. To take the IM boards, you will need the IM residency.

its not easy to work without residency.but you can do fellowship to return back.only radiology i think its possible to do 4 yrs of fellowship and then take boards.i dont know for sure about that also but i think few are trying that route.also in radiology fellowships slots are 50%vacant every year.

thats true , no residency means that u cant work in USA after ur fellowship ...except in radiology

If you do 2-3 years of ACGME accredited fellowships, you get eligible for full license and possibly join an existing practice. still you can not apply for board certification.. This route has been used successfully by few but is not very reliable.. there are so many variables involved.
