Hi all,

Many programs say that we can intteract with the residents during noon conference. Is it a good idea? In noon conference, there is a lecture and we have remain silent and listen to it. Also, the residents are busy exploring the sponsored lunch and enjoying it. As soon as the lecture is over they leave for work...and there is no time to interact? By the time we come for the noon conference after the interviews , the lecture has already started...

So, if we don't get to meet the residents at all...how can we know about the program...A resident takes us for tour but it is only for a short while and all questions cannot be answered within that time....

So, is the program trying to keep away the residents? Is noon conference just an eye wash for meeting the residents?

Any thoughts?

yeah, but it's different at different programs.... that has happened to me also....but I have had also the chance to talk to residents who are on electives or chiefs (mostly tours), or at a lunch (no lectures) with interns that are on wards, but yes, it's sad not to have much opportunities to talk with residents...
you could try asking more questions on tours too... I believe there's plenty of time to do so.... answers can be a bit biased, though..
