Hi everybody I'm an IMG who graduated in 2000 and I'm really confused & worried about the rate of success for a person like me in matching. Some say that there is a very little (maybe NO) hope for IMGs who are graduated more than 5 years ago to be matched but the others say that even more than this gap can be accepted in case of getting good scores in USMLE. Can anyone here clarify this subject without giving false hope, please? In case of failure in Match, how will be the situation to enter research field instead of clinical work for this group of IMGs?(I personally prefer this to deal with patients) Thx in advance

What's your visa situation? If you have an employment authorization document, you may apply for research coordinator/assistant in hospitals websites. There's little hope for old graduates, but it all depends on how prone you are to giving up without trying it at least once. No door open if you don't knock, in this case.
