When it says attempts--

Does it mean how many times you toke the exam or how many times you failed it?

well, if you pass the usmle you are not allowed to re-take it (to improve score etc..) pass is pass! But if you failed then you have to try on a seond, third etc. attempt.

so it means how many runs it took you to pass.
