Have a bit of a cheeky question to ask. I have had the fortune of getting quite a few interviews, unfortunately my partner (who wrote Step 2 CK while in med school and not knowing the importance of a high mark - got 80) has only received a couple. In desperation I am thinking of mailing a few of the places where I have got IV's, telling them about the situation and asking them if they would offer him a spot (maybe even in mine) Is this wise? Would PD's take this badly? please advise.

I think it is a bad idea..., I wouldn´t do it..., I think we don´t have the authority to make that happen (the program would be delegating ALL the authority to you in the process of choosing iv candiadates) and it could even hurt your own iv... Hope it helps, all he best

Your patner could mail the programs where u have got ivs, telling them dt u r in couple match (i m assuming dt u r). Also when u go for ur iv u can talk to the pd about ur patner, but be professional in dt... Most places ask themselves abt ur significant other.

I liked the suggestion of getting my partner to mail them , shows more independence. Am just worried that when he mentions my name, they look down upon me - maybe should mention am willing to abandon the couples match if things don't work out regarding matching interviews (which we might have to) am gonna get him to type up a draft letter - but would like bbb's approval/opinion before committing to anything.

I wouldn't take a chance. Sometimes, when people are faced with complicated situations, they choose a simpler one. But that's me. I hope everything will turn out to be fine for both of you.

tequillafungus wrote:Is this wise? Would PD's take this badly? please advise. It certainly can't hurt you or your partner. They may want you enough to offer an interview even if the scores from your partner are a little below what they want. They certainly aren't going to cancel your interview - at least, I wouldn't.

I have a friend - she has scores above 90 , he has highly 80 and they applied like couple. She asked at EVERY interview about him and some programs invited him also , some didn't.

Hope He match with you. If not, The other best alternative is Once you get into a program you can have a hold there and say. They may listen as you will be in a better position. Now , it is a two weapon. It can back fire . Unless you are risk taker, Better not to try.Again opinion varies.
