Please, could someone help me out, with understanding of '' medical education credentials. '' I just can not get it sad . The school I graduated from ( Europe, IMED listged ) is for 6 years, but due to some family problems it took me 9 years to finished my medical education, with diploma.

Now going through application instruction , I got to the paragraph, where it's states ( here I get confused, they talk about some 7 years period and I just don't get it !) Can not make out of these English .... Please someone help me out !

''Transfer Credits :

For the purpose of ECFMG Certification, academic credits earned on or after January 1, 2008 that are transferred to the medical school that awarded or will award an applicant’s medical degree must meet all of the following criteria:

Credits must be transferred from one IMED-listed medical school to another IMED-listed medical school. Credits must be for courses taken at one medical school within seven years of the date of graduation at the medical school that accepts the transferred courses. Credits must be for courses that were passed at the medical school at which the course was taken. Applicants who have transferred credits to the medical school that awarded or will award their medical degree will be required to document these credits when they apply to ECFMG for examination. See Credentials for Exam Registration. Applicants whose transferred credits do not comply with the policy outlined above will not meet the requirements to be registered by ECFMG for examination or the requirements for ECFMG Certification. Applicants whose transferred credits do not meet all the criteria listed above may request an exception from the ECFMG Medical Education Credentials Committee. ''

Apologize, something happened to my post.

Here is the link I attached, and is more clearly readable : http://www.ecfmg.org/2008ib/ibmec.html#transfercr...

My questions are :

1, Am I still eligible even if I studied for 9 years at my home country?

2, What exactly they mean by '' Transfer credit'' and 7 year period.

Someone please help me out.

With regards.

Elan, I suggest you to email directly ecfmg/eras to clear these questions. This is a delicate issue and they will have the most accurate answer.

Thanks Chemamr,

I will call them as soon the holidays will be over.

Is anybody here who studied longer then 7 years ?

Or is it just valid for credits earned after 1.Jan 2008?

Oh, so many qs, sorry, I just have lump in my throat , thinking I will not be accepted by ECFMG for this. sad

Thanks again, I just feel very lost, and can not clearly understand their criteria. What does '' transfer of credits mean? '' Anyone can tell me more?

Thanks again.

And Happy Thanksgiving.

chemamr is right ECFMG is best to answer your questions....
However i don't think you have a problem unless you transfered schools within this nine years...

Thank you Cocacola, I will call them to get the clearest answer.

Wish I would read about it before the holidays, I guess a Murphy law is working well ( I found out about it, when I can not do anything about it ).

Was curious is anybody studied longer in the home country.

Thanks .
