Hello everyone,

I was wondering how an IMG can go about getting affiliations, memberships (eg. AMA, AAFP, etc) publications, activities for their CV.
all of those organizations req. that u be enrolled in a U.S. med school, or be a practicing physician in U.S. for membership.
I was looking at sample CVs for residency and they have a bunch of memberships/affiliations/publications, volunteer work. Have most of you in this forum satisfy all this??
If so how???
My CV has no U.S. affiliations/memberships/publications...etc. and I don't think foreign activities matter much to program directors.
HELP!!!

Volunteer work: look for some volunteer positions
Publications: get involved in research
Memberships: after getting involved in research you will find opportunities to be a member of some society...
it demands work and time... some started earlier, some started later... and I guess it is never late if interested in academic medicine....

Thanks for your reply prueba,

Do you or anyone know any specific organizations an IMG can join. It's hard for me to volunteer since I work as medical assistant. Got a bunch of LORS from US physicians since i work in a large clinic and I float to other depts.
But I feel bad my CV lacks what I mentioned above. has any IMG here have affiliations, publications, memberships, other activities...etc please share them ! I would like to know more about them and what you did to accomplish them.

I will look for a research position and leave my job. But please I would appreciate If an IMG could post their CV as a sample.

I included my Medical assistant license, health care license, ACLS, and nursing assistant license in my CV to fill some space. Was this a good Idea? I feel like i'm the only one here that lacks what i mentioned above here. Does anyone else have this problem? Please doctors share your experience.
