take CS ASAP and if you got interviews, try to have the result before rankings submissions, and send results to programs where you had interviews...I don't know if you have enough time..but that's the only option I see....If you get certified you could also try for the scramble...
Best of luck

Dear Prueba and bbb,
Thankyou for your reply
My question was only is CS failure considered really very bad
thank you

  #5

yes its considered bad because basically it tests if you can speak english well and interact with patients so this is bad for you

  #6

your ability to speak english and interaction with patients are two things hard to teach so program directors know this and this is what the usmle step 2 cs tests so program directors view a failure of the usmle step 2 cs as bad also its tuff because they are NO dates to retake it in case you havent checked and pd know this so they know you will NOT have it passed since you cant even take it so they WONT even consider you

it's obvious...Any failure on USMLEs is bad...as any great score is good... but, how bad? that will depend on different programs..some will take people with attempts some won't... I wish I knew which ones...but the most important thing is to pass it, and get your certification regardless of what the chances are, right now...
There's tons of applicants that find spots with attempts on usmles....probably not on their first match, but on a second opportunity would be more likely if applied on sept 1 with all the other credentials needed.... (USCE, US lors, research) so...now is the time to start if you don't have those.... I don't know if this helped a bit more, I wish I could help more.

Hi anzar!! Cs attempt is not considered as bad as attempt in step 1 or step 2, many people get matched to gud programs even after having an attempt in cs. Gud luck.

Don't worry about cs that much... that is an exam that is heading for extinction... I'm sure your tactics were the problem because we all know how to communicate with our patients but lets face it... it is not the same thing to talk to an SP... so don't worry too much I don't think programs take it as such a terrible thing to have failed cs.... although at this point I think you don't have enough time to take it again and get your result back in time because there are no dates available... this time of year gets really full! everybody wants to take it in time for the match... so your best bet is to wait for the next match and try to engorge your curriculum. By the way are you worried because you already had IV's scheduled? If that is the case things get complicated because as I said dates for cs at this time of year are seen like pure gold and to find one is incredibly difficult.
