Hi caduceus_indya,

You can send me list of observeship in CA because I need to get one free of fee or small fee.

Thanks

Hospitals in San jose, CA area are Good Samaritan, Kaiser Permanente, Valley Medical, El Camino Hospital. In the vicinity, there are Stanford Lucille Peckerd Children Hospital in Palo Alto, Alameda in Oakland, also UCSF in San francisco.

You should check the web sites of these hospitals and contact the coordinators of the programs that you are interested.

I think you have more chance to land an observership position if you are currently overseas.

eturan....
i applied in many hospitals including one in chicago and houston..
bt no one replies via email...
so what to do? meet them personally when i land there?bt it wnt be possible to knock door of each and every hospital...have to look for the money factor too that takes in travelling and all stuff...

I think there is no formal way of landing an observership unless an overseas hospital program makes the arrangement with a program in US.

Therefore, as an individual, you will keep trying either by phone, email, or in person as feasible as possible for your budget.

If I were you, I would also write a very good letter if I am using email tool. I state why it is important for me to be an observer in that specific hospital/program instead of a typical letter of I am looking for an observership ( i can collect some letter of recommendations). Eventually that is your purpose I believe. But you will not say that in your email of course. Thats the reason your initial email should be very specific why that program, why that hospital....you know what I mean! There may be some prof in that program that you are very interested in his/her such and such study. There is a new technology that program is introducing that is very interesting to you... etc.

Keep trying, you may not get anything, but it is better than not trying.

Good Luck.

Hi eturan,

I aggree totally with you. My mind is the same to you. You are a mate in mind.

Thank you so much. Please keep in touch
I have the only tool now: email. So, a very good letter is the best way to get Oberveship from oversea like me.

eturan, please show me almost Observeship is free, isn't it? How about housing monthly the least expensive in CA?

Thanks in advance.

I have tried more than 50 hospitals but all of them refused to offer me an observership/volunteer although I have no visa issue and am living in CA.

Observership is very hard to get in CA unless you have connections with doctors in the hospital you apply.

Anyway, try to send them email. You may be lucky to get one.

Good luck.

hi caduceus_indya! According to the email I got from Cedars we need to send a CV along with the application. We know someone from the hospital's HR so I don't know if my application with them will work out.
For now I am busy preparing for my CS exam.

I was at Good Samaritan hospital earlier, an ER doctor there told me that he was not aware of any observerships/externships in their hospital. He recommended looking at the hospitals with affiliations to Universities here in Califoria, such as Stanford.

Thanks caduceus_indya and xthine,

It is so hard to get Observeship in Internal medicine in CA as I still stay in my home country. So I decide to apply for Clinical Psychology Observeship, I hope it is comfortable for them to accept.

To xthine: If I haven't any close contact in person with US doctor, a very good letter is acceptable? I tried sending an application to Cedars and they will reply for coming days. Keep me update. Thanks a lot.

To Robin: You can apply for another without IM, I think you can make it. Let's try it.

Do keep in touch, buddies.

Hey Vietnamese. Yes I will keep you updated. A very good from your home country plus 1 or 2 LORs from US doctors is recommended for IMGs.
Are you in CA now?

thanks..

Hi xthine,

I am staying at my home country but my close relative is living at San Jose, so I wanna get Observeship right there for no housing problem. What do hospitals often require for Observeship? What problem do you have now?

Thanks

Right now? The fact that I cannot get a SSN on a B1 visa grin

  #22

Hi xthine,

It is so tough to get B1 visa extention, seem that maximal extension is just 6 months. If you can not stay at US due to expired visa, I think you can come back your home country to get another visa J1 for Step 3 of Kaplan Center, then you can extend to 7 years in US. So, you can do many things you planed as EAD..........finally, get SSN. it will take long to get it.

Good luck xthine. I think if you are persistent and patient, you can make it.

How about the chance of Good Samaritan hospital Observeship? Thanks in advance
