Hi Folks,
I have been invited for a advanced position for one of the highly competetive Neuro program. I do not have any invitation for Prelims. Most of my prelim program send me the Rej. I did'nt apply to the Prelims at the program where I have been invited. And I just checked, that hospital no more accepts application for Prelim IM. WHat shall I do? Any Advice Appreciated.

most advanced places still have some sort of arrangement with the medicine program and can work with them for a prelim position .. try emailing the program coordinator or the PD and tell them that u have an invitation from the neurology program and ask them if they could accept your application .... see what they say ..

good luck!

Yes, increasingly most neuro programs are getting into some sort of arrangement with medicine programs in this univ/hosp itself or with any sister hospitals. I think at this point of time there is not much of a choice. Try doing well at the neuro interview and ask the PD if they would help in any way for securing a prelim post even though their official stand is otherwise. You can tell them that you liked the prog, hosp and actually would love to do the prelim year right here. I think it is even OK to take the risk of applying to the IM program even though it is past deadline. It atleast gives you something to try and in the worst case you would just loose the 25 dollars. Good luck

last year as i was going thru the scramble, most if not all prelim programs wanted people with secured advanced positions .. so, go for the neuro spot and worry about the prelim later ..

good luck nodnodsmiling face

Thanks everybody. I did apply through ERAS and I send an email today to the IM program mentioning the details . I got a immediate reply saying all the Interview spot filled and they don't review application as the application closing date is over.
Thanks for your input
