I hope there's more than rejections/silence this week....good luck to all...

  #3

just got a call from a PD for a prematch offer. He never responded to my thank you note... so, silence is not always that bad...

  #4

Congrats prueba, what program ?

  #5

Congrats prueba. Aren't you tempted to just sign it and bring all of this to an end?

  #6

hey stroke, thanks...but not too excited. I was remembering GLO's review while I was talking,(just in case I got tempted) ...so you can imagine...
jazmil: thanks , I am waiting to see my chances at Uni programs... fortunately (don't know how serious they are, though) PD's have told me to contact them if interested.. up to dec... let's see... But I guess I'll go to the match anyways... unless a big one (for me, in my top 3) offers me a prematch (shaking head not gonna happen)

hahahah, np at all...

rej from Harlem! Even this is rejecting! I'm tired and loosing all hopes.... this is not a fair country... lot of recommendations and rubbing of shoulders go on inside a program. I doubt if USA is any longer a land of opportunities.... time to be realistic and make alternative plans in life. If we won't match, we should move on in life and try different things.... I sometimes wonder, even some one owning dunkin donuts earns a lot of money, so why all this pain??... why not change plans!! Ha ha ha...

congrats Preuba .......... I am sure you have enough IVs to go to the match!

  #12

thanks bro' I hope to have enough programs after some of them give a large proportion of prematches... how are you doing?...nothing for me this last week

  #13

Congrat preuba.
How to know if we have enough programs to go for the match? How to decide whether accept prematch in so-so program or take risk go to the match for the most desired program?

  #14

Congrats Preuba! Thats awesome. Think about the prematch offer... don't be in a rush to sign the contract, especially if it's not on your top hopsitals list. I'm sure you'll get the program of your choice.. hang in there!

hey jingimg...I wish I knew the answer...but probably having over 8-10 programs is a safe bet...considering they go with all the positions (at least a good proportion) to the match.
If programs are at the same level and one of them offers a prematch I would accept it.
I am going to the match because of personal reasons, and because I had the luck of being invited to some university programs that (I guess)don't offer prematches....
If I had 5 IVs I'll grab a prematch (unless it is really a program I don't like at all)
If I had 7 IVs I'll probably take a prematch (not so desired program) if I know half of them fill through prematch.
If I had 7 IVs I'll definately would take a prematch if it is among my 3 top choices...
if I was offered a prematch at my first 2-3 options would definately take it regardless of the number of IVs.

As you may have noticed I am guessing and could go for a few pages.... again, It's so difficult, and I don't feel confident about the "next best step"... There's a thread started by bbb some time ago about prematches..
