hi
is it true that H1 visa is initially valid for 3 yrs for residency, and if needed can be extended for another 3 yrs?

suppose if one converts from H4(dependent of H1) TO H1(to do residency) will the time spent on H4 , subtracted from the time alloted on H4?
can some one pls throw some light on this?

Your time on H4 will not curtail the total 3+ 3 years of your H1...
