I learned from ECFMG fact card summary Data that in 2006, there are 6,609 applications for J-1 Visa sponsorship, yet there are 6,895 PGY-1 in the program. Does that mean only 286 IMG residents have green card and do not need sponsorship? Thanks

may be.people with permenant resident status are not many.could be in few hundreds.like wise docs who are imgs and citizens are also very few.this year those who do not need visa may be high as loads of them have eads.
even those with gc,ead and even citizens are finding it hard this year due to the increased no of appliactions each is applying to,causing artificial inflation.
