Not in my case... rejected twice by the same program, though...

If u know smeone in a program, then u can get an iv after u get a rejection i.e if u use ur contacts after u get a rejection. I have seen dt happening. Gud luck!

unless untill proved otherwise there are no ivs after the rejection.

Unless the PC (me) screws up and sent the wrong email to the wrong person (you) and now offers an interview. Accept, be happy, and interview well.

Why would you want to get and IV from a program that already rejected you? Even if you get the IV the program will not rank you.....because the program didn't consider you as a candidate in first place. If this could ever happend I think you will have to be extra mega charismatic to make a positive impression on them....
An at the end how would you rank the program knowing that you were not in their plans ....and the IV was given to you by other means
Good Luck to all

Completely misleading. Just like I misled others a week ago.

As we had a robust discussion concerning how the match system works last week, we shud always rank according to our preference, not how high the program ranks u. The only factor that determines is how many candidates ranked above u really like that program.

Getting iv after rejection sometimes means someone withdraw or cancel the iv. This may be a sign that competitive guys lost interest in that program. Generally, this also increases ur chance of getting into that program.

I would say, give it a shot and see if u like that place. Who knows u ll like it or not?
Cherish every iv we have unless u r up to the level u dont exactly remember how many iv u have.

It was not me who I was talking about. One of my friends got an invite from a program last year after he was rejected and he finally matched to dt program, he is definitely not extra mega charismatic...Its the same as using ur contacts in the first place to get an iv. By ur reasoning candidates called late by a program or those getting an iv after someone cancels have less chances of matching to a program coz they werent in the plans of the program in the first place.

I m sorry if my post sounded like I m saying bribe smeone to get an iv, I just posted wht I knew had happened. I dont have any contacts to use but if I did have I would use them.

This may happen but it's very rare

well, here is something from my experience....
I had a rejection from a program, that sounded like "you are good, but we have no IV spots avaliable", and I didn't think twice before responding with "of course, I understand, but if you get a spot, I will be happy to come" kind of letter....
2 weeks later I get IV invitation, confirm it, plan for it...... some time later I get another letter from them with " we gave a second look to your application and think that we made a mistake inviting you for the interview, don't waste your time and money, you are not that competitive"....something along those lines....

so.....didn't know how to react at first, but didn't contemplate on "why in the world would you do something like that" for a long time...."stuff" happens...move on

babydoc4usmle..at times like these..just remember the T-shirt in forest gump which read.."shit happens"

its so disgusting that u reject someone..then call them..n then reject them again..one day, inshallah, when we are in the position to change things..we will..till then, lets all keep the faith..
