I just heard from the Department of Health of my country today that as there's only 1 to 2 M.D. going for US residency each year and there's no apparent need to send physicians training aboard as well, they will stop supporting letters to ECFMG for J1 application. I sent the head a letter(he was Dean of my school) today, and he responded he can't do anything about it. Which means...even if I get Bayview, I can't go, as there's J1 only. Not coincidentally, most good university programs support J1 only, which means...Ahhhh Therefore, sorry guys, I will start grabbing good H1 programs' positions. I need some SSRI now.

Dear MPH I'm also in the same situation. Not only me about five/ six doctors from my country who are applying this time. Most people prefer H1 and it is not a prob. to them. But I have only a few IVs and nothing turned out positive from the IV s I attended. All the programs in my state except one sponsor J1 only. Very bad. What's the difference between the training in the UK/ Aus and the US? Cannot change attitudes of our seniors

I m sorry to hear that, Malithathe. It seems u r in an even tougher situation now. I would firstly make sure if I really wanna train in US, and if yes, go get that only program. This is a tough year, u never know what will happen next.

Yes but this is really not bcoz "I really wanna train in the US" but my my hubby really wanna train in the US(PhD). So I selected the option of going through this tuff journey rather than living alone in my country for five/six years until he comes back. Life is tricky and hard. BTW I'm with my hubby, I became a mom, passed my steps, so If I get a residency I didn't fail in my journey( Considering the one and half years spent at home as a leave for rest and child care). I will pray for that

hey mph friend is this true? Is there no way around? If so I'm very sorry to hear that but hey as you already said you are an outstanding candidate and there would be a whole bunch of great programs that offer H1B just dying to have you. Allthough I really hope you can do something about this visa issue.

Thanx, but it depends. I am a little regretful that I canceled 8 H1 program iv before PTSD. I should have kept them in hand.
