Hi to everyone! Im an IMG, graduated in 1996, and been in clinical practice since then. I took the step 1 last august and failed-shock of my life. But looking back, I should have have studied longer and done the qbank, especially since i took my basic sciences way back. It took me a while to get over the failure, but I want to try again now.I was thinking of doing steps 2 ck and cs, first, then go back to step 1. Has anyone ever tried this? and more importantly, does it work?

I know some people that have. When your studying for step II, your in fact studying for step I. Step I mostly asks you "what the diagnosis?" Or something specific in terms of histo, biochem, micro, pathophys. Step II mostly asks "what is the next step in management? What is the best initial treatment? What is the initial test? What is the best test?" .. but any of the points from step I are fair game as well. I can defintely say it is easier to sit and study for step II, b/c alot of it is clinically related, so it keeps my attention. Where as step I was a lot of biochem, cell, histo that would require a lot of effort to focus on. Neither exam is easy though. Cs- is an independent exam. Sure knowing your stuff from step I, and II helps. But someone could just go through FA, and UW for this and do just fine without knowing much of anything for step I and II. g'luck
