Hi all, I'm new here and just want to get some input on what I should do.....I just found out I failed the CK for the second time. I am totally shocked by this b/c I was sure I passed. I did all the review books, UW, and the CD that comes with the USMLE stuff and the NBMEs and from that I got that I would get at least 200 on the real thing (which did not happen). I have already done the ERAS stuff and now I'm scared that I won't be able to match for next year (2008)....what are my chances for getting residency for 2008 or ever?! What do I do??? shaking head sad

sorry to hear it. Go register for the exam. Look at the second page on your score sheet. Find the topics your weak on. Then go back and review those thourghly. Take an NBME, and evaluate where you need to go from there. Try to take the exam again ASAP. If your finding that your NBME score isn't improving, then go ahead and postpone your exam. Don't worry about the match. It's more important to get a good score. You can then either scramble, or find a posiiton outside fo the match later.

g'luck

Thanks for the reply......but since I've failed CK twice, will i still have a a chance of getting residency for next year? Everything seems to be so heavily based on these stupid scores....

Without putting to fine a point on it ... what other options do you really have?

relax, sit down and study, and take it again. Worry about the "what if's" later. That worrying isn't really going to help you right now. People have gotten spots with a lot worse.

hello whatdoido, im in the same predicament..i agree it's the worst feeling in the world and like wat u said i really thought and was confident that i would pass the exam..unfortunately the opposite happened.anyway, wat i did was to take it slow and to think it through first..considering the amount of money, time and effort we have to invest..i thought it would be unwise to rush things..with the advice of some friends, my plan is to just take it early next yr and participate in th 09 match..take step3 after and look for a good externship/observership program.smiling face anyway, i hope i was able to help u in some way..

Hey whatdoido! Do Not Despair dear. Just think that the only failure is when you give up trying in life. Don't focus over the fact that you will try for the third time. Tell yourself that you have not failed rather you have moved one step closer to your success in future. Remember that if you become hopeless, depressed and quit trying further... you will never get the title "MD" attached to your name. Keep up your spirits high and have faith in God..He is there to take care of you and your dreams. Good luck for next time!
