Kaplan Qbank USMLE

My husband is a FMG and has taken USMLE Step 2 CK 5 times so far and failed each time - his highest was a 167 and just recently failed and got a 155. It's unfathomable to us both because he scored a 700 on Form 3 of NBME and 550 on Form 2. He's done everything - Kaplan, USMLE World, various study guides, etc - done lots of practice problems and has always averaged around a 75%.

He took these exams in 2 cities where we have lived and since moving, they have gotten worse which makes me think about whether the exams are scored based on certain regions ....

We are just really worried about him even getting into a residency program because of failure limits on medical licensing and it's just pretty devastating.

Should he even try again, because at this point, he doesn't know what to study anymore? He was so sure he had it this time and doesn't know his score yet.

What are your thoughts guys?

Neuroblastoma... relax, it's not that bad. Not sure what the above post is going on about. I've never heard of someone doing so well on NBME and failing repeatedly.

You'll be fine... Just hang in there.

I know this isn't ideal - but this is seriously what has occurred and it has come to the point where we are thinking of getting an attorney to look into this for us because perhaps its something with his file. I hope no one ever has to go through what we are going through.

Does anyone know whether it matters where one takes the exam?

sorry to hear the news.....

It doesn't matter where you take the test.
It's a myth....like people concerned about cs exam....doesn't matter which center.

-the nbme he did, was it the first time he toke the particular nbme? Because as you repeat it, it becomes less accurate and nbme must be done in time mode.

I know a person who toke the nbme...half one day...half the other day....scored really well in it.....than wondered why she failed.

I wrote this a few months bak hope this helps
I passed my exam want to thank this forum so much. Well what can I say I studied for four months full time used usmleworld and first aid these are very good sources. About the test day well it went smooth had a good breakfast then did two bloocks took a a break and then did one block and took a break after each block had lots of water and chocolate during my breaks. I did the nbme exam form two and got only 360 very low so did not do anymore but studied what I got the lowest scores. My test had all subjects covered well my advice is do not take the test until you have really prepared I studied all day for these four months in my opinion internal medicine obsetrics and gynecology pediatrics pschiatry then surgery are what is important in this order I got a few statistics question which I did not even try to answer just guessed and moved on. Be prepared for anything on test day and use this forum it is good thats it guys what should I do know? Any suggestions? Will be glad to answer any questions. By the way for all that have failed it took me four times to pass step one one time to pass step 2 cs and three time to pass step 2 ck so you can do it study hard and believe in youself
