Does anyone know anyone who got a prematch at interfaith Ny or Our lady of mercy Ny this season...

I wrote a thank you email a week after i interviewed at a program which i really liked....i recieved reply within 12 hrs...it basicaly siad i am good candidate and they are glad i liked their program but still no promise ...(this place just has 5 positions and they never gave a prematch)...Even during the interview...i got very good response from the PD and other faculty....but still no promises....What can i make out of this.

How many PD's do respond to thankyou notes?

I would say it depends. From my experience in terms of prematch offer, it can be either telling u directly in iv, PD's phone call, email, or asking other faculty to persuade u.

Sometimes they dont reply doesnt mean they dont like u. 3 of my 5 prematch offers so far come from programs didnt give reply for Thank You Letter, so dont lose hope!

I would say 1/4 of the people I wrote to (3-4 letters/per program) have responded to my thank you letters (all email)
4 out of 6 PDs have responded to my thank you notes (1-3 lines). Other faculty, and coordinators have not. (Acually 3 PDs and.. 1 Associate...We did not meet the PD at CookC)
prematch offers at IVs (2), one by phone call....nothing by email.

I believe it also may take a few days... you can always do a follow up later and ask..or go for a second look and try at that time...

so I have a question for you guys...I haven't started my interiews yet.

How much time did they give you to decide about their prematch offer? What if you decline? Are they still going to consider you as a strong applicant or they'll bump you down their rank list?

Interfaith hospital isn't in the safest neighbourhood....program doesnt have a night float....fellowship chances are grim....i did not like program very much but if its the only place i can do residensy...i will do it.

hey medicus, the PDs told me to contact them if interested... One told me up to mid december...
The PD who called me, told me to change that perception or myth that I won't be ranked if I don't accept it and that I will be ranked high anyways..he also told me to called them if I change my mind later (no deadlines)... I trust him. He called me a few days after my IV . ...
I don't know about other PDs, and I would not trust everybody... of course there are some stories out there of people who did not accept prematches and remained unmatched... scary!!
