Is it 60% Occlusion or 70% Occlusion of the Carotid artery? Whats the most recent guideline? (Kaplan and UW conflict). Thanks.

As far as I remember....It is recommended for patients with 60% occlusion+ recent Symptoms and in asymptomatic individuals > 70% occlusion.

Another important point I can't forget to add is : most common complication of carotid endarterectomy is myocardial infarction.

for symptomatic males 50-70% is an indication for it. and >70% for asymptomatics. while 50-70% in females is contraversial.

Indications for carotid endarterectomy: According to UW, its >60% occlusion in either symptomatic or asymptomatic. According to Kap: >70% AND symptomatic (nothing is mentioned about asymptomatic)
