hi bbb, i have my phd from US.....have 8 publications among which 3 is first auhtor in very good journals.......got 99 in step1 and 90 in step2.....i have no US clinical ecperience since my phd will get over next summer 2005 and i have to match for 2005.....i am 1999 graduate......should i compulsorily get a USCE in order to get a good IM program in a university setting........is there any hope for other competitve programs like anaesthesiology etc....... i know you get lot ot queries to answer every day...i would much appreciate your candid opinion and also any suggestions or advice you might have for me ...thanks a lot in advance......

Again, I can't answer for anything else than IM training, since that is where I have been working. You shouldget some kind of US clinical experience. When was the last time you had any? That's something that all program directors will be looking at. The publications are good, the scores are good. USCE isn't mandatory - but it can't hurt either. Good luck

thanks for the reply....i finished my MBBS in 1999.....was assocaited with a hospital in india for a year before coming here to the US for phd....so it is like 4-5 yrs now since i had any kind of clinical experience.....
