yes, I had my first interview yesterday.ok My cresentials first.... step 1 ...92 step2 cs pass step 2 ck ..yet to be taken us citizen 3 month house job in psychiatry in pakistan 4 month psych practice in pakistan psych interview from hosp in st louis 1999 graduate fron Dow medical college pakistan mom of three kids including twins. I am mentioning the name of my college as one of the interviewer mentioned it and said that consider it one of the best colleges of world. Day before yesterday I had the dinner with chief resident .IT was a near by hotel .The chief resident was there with 4 other resident ,each one was representing each year of residency. There were 3 other applicants ,and all were American med grads.Ah I was the only desi among them.It was an informal dinner.Really a comfortable environment. The shief resident was a wonderful guy .He told a lot about the program ,and if u have any specific qs sbout any residency year u can ask the resident representing that year. The next day I went to the hospital at 7in the morning .All the appliacnts were there. The assisstant residency gave an intro of prog via a slide show .they gave us a broshure of the program.Cofee tea and water was there.Self service. I was suppose to be interviewed by 5 people.all on diff floors of the department. All were good ,made me comfortable .There was no academic qs.The qs were realted to the personal statement......the gap in the resume......why psychiatry .....why this specific hosp........what do u know about our faculty and our hosp.......waht made u think about applying here....why will u prefer this hosp on others......exp about .current cbservership....few qs regarding the research.......future plans ......an interesting case in psychiatry...... we had lunch with the residents .very very comfortable environment.....The PD specifically told me that we usualy dnt have IMGs in our prog but whenever we have ,we treat them as first class citizen......I really liked this program...I was worried before the iv as what they will ask but theywere really nice people.Forgot to mention we had a whole round of the department... Wil ans we any qs if some on ehave.I have to go...one of twin needs me good luck to all

Thanks a lot MRBEAN and NADIABARATI I always thought to write or contribute something to this forum but when ever I want to write something on my laptop ,my twins press the buttons too...(I think they want to contribute also thats why I have so many mistakes in my drafts.)But whenever I write, I aways save the draft to proofread it ,but couldnot proofread or submit due to home kids and studies......This time I thought to hit the submit button without proofreading or.... so thanks a lot for all the members who contribute and help others. I always thought I owe a lot to this forum so this is a lil contribution ...but def I will contribute more.

Thanks a lot stydy_ing and newyg.Your words means alot to me I forgot to mention one thing that the personal statement is really really important dont ignore it. They really read it and I think it is one of a key factor in the decision making of program regarding the interview offer. I would like to thank a lot to my old friend Multifactorial who Helped me a lot in writing my personal statement. Her writing skills are awesome ,and she did a huge favor of writing my Ps for me.Thanks a lot multifactorial .....u are so great Your personal statement should reflect your life and your personality. They really judge u on the basis of whatever is written. If I recall some other imp stuff I will mention it . thanks for your support guys Salmonella

thanks Salmonella!like you said in another thread, whatever you are destined for will come to you itself.i think it is the whole package and not one thing is more important than the other.it would be a great pleasure for me if you got in this year.may Allah reward you for your perseverance. to all the other guys!never give up.if we have come this far, then we will get farther..a little hurdle here and a little there means nothing in the big circle of life.just hang in there.never be a quitter.may we all be guided by Him.
