A 68-year-old woman is referred to you by her dentist. She has suffered some tooth decay because she refuses to brush her teeth due to facial pain. She explains that she has developed an excruciating pain in the right side of her face. It is exacerbated by facial movements or touch, and is most severe in the morning. She is suing the dentist as she claims it all started after a root canal.
