Hello, I'm new in this forum. Well, I'm feeling very anxious lately waiting for the results. I'll tell you about my experience.

Preparation: I prepared for 2 months, I had a study partner whom I didn't have so much practice with, however, he helped me a lot on how to handle my time and he often corrected me on my mistakes during encounters. I used FA, and studied all the cases just once. I also had the opportunity to buy USMLEWORLD and it also helped.

Exam day: Well, my exam was in LA, proctors are very helpful and most of the people, whom I saw that day, were mostly IMG. I will talk about my encounters performance which is as follows: In every encounter, I knocked at the door, introduced myself to the patien verifying his/her name, then I started asking the reason for the visit and then started with LIQOR AAA and PAM HUGS FOSS, most of the time I used transitional sentences but not all the time, I answered every question the patient had for me, I always had eye contact while talking and never felt nervous, I washed my hands in every encounter and I also draped the patient, I asked them, while washing my hands, whether or not they had something else to tell me, after that I asked for permition to perform PE, helped them in every aspect when I asked them to lie down, sit up, etc. I always finished the targeted systems to be checked and then I closed every encounter and asked them whether or not they had a question. I typed all PN, 10 minutes are enough.

MY MISTAKES: I DIDN'T COUNSEL MOST OF THE PATIENTS, however, I asked the CAGE questions to people who had alcohol intake. I also asked for colonoscopies history, mamography and PAP to every person who warrated them, I didn´t dim the light whiled doing fundoscopy, I didn't use SP's name while asking questions, and there was a case where I couldn't find the world in English when ordering the patient to perform something. In the PN I think I couldn't write a good PE however I described the chief complaint and the family, sexual, social, etc histories, I missed important DD's in 4 encounters but I could tell the chief one in every case. I didn´t checked the spelling.

I can't go into case details since it is prohibited. Guys now that I've written about my experience, do you think I have a chance to pass this exam now that the passing score has been raised? Please, leave a comment wheter it is good or bad. shaking head

Thank you in advance.

I recommend you subscribe to UW 2 months before the exam so you can practice all cases in it. You should have started using FA by now, but most important is PRACTICE WITH SOMEONE ELSE, I think the latter should help you assess yourself. Hope this helps. smiling face
