Hi...if you get an H1b...is it viable for 1 year? or 3 years after the initial issuance?is it advisable to take a 1 year (ty/prelim) on H1b? thanks.

Usually H1b is given for three years...but if lose your job that the H1b is issued for ( in your case, when you finish your 1 year transitional year) the H1B becomes void...so if you get another job or if you get matched to an advanced program next year, you may apply for H1b again, which will again be isuued for three years.....
