tia, milee thanks very much! Yes i think cell & mol. biology and genetics are subjects which are pretty difficult to master. I dont think u need any special books to gain a good grasp of the material, the thing u should be concentrating on is: 1) to develop a good understanding from any standard book 2) to immediately follow that up with a lot of practice questions 3) and probably more importantly keep doin questions even when u'r done with these subjects...not much maybe just 15-20 questions daily. I think this is an aspect most of us totally ignore. If u can keep testing ur weaker subjects on a daily basis u'll soon find they've become ur strongest! This is because the process of recalling a certain facts forces u to recall a lot 6f allied facts, and all of us know the more u review things the more they stick in ur mind. I think improving on ur weaker areas is a total must with this exam esp. when they happen to be cell & mol. biology, which are tested quite heavily on this exam. I hope this helps out... Korotkoff, the meaning for now is a secret what i can tell u though is that i thought this up on my own...hope this helps YOU out

So done with the first read, done with NBME, and done with some fun. Time to take stock of the situation, assess strengths and weaknesses, set new targets and make sure i get everything done, come what may! I've already chalked up a revision time table. Its goin to take me a full 17 days to get the whole thing done. Much as i want to keep studyin all subjects daily my system just doesn't agree with that. I dont know whether thats a weakness or a strength but thats how it is with me. I like stickin to one subject and gettin it done. In makin this time table i've taken into account my performance on Uworld and NBME. The subjects which are stronger and i've good personal feel about get done first. The subjects which are weaker and stress me out get done later, they also recieve marginally longer revisions times. I'm only left with around 450 questions on Uworld now and my subscription lasts till 24th of this month. So what I'll be doing is first do another 150 questions over the next day or two, follow that up with a revison of the previously done questions, and finally end with the left over FRESH 300 questions during the last two days. This gets me groovin again and also helps me reassess. Did one Uworld block today. Got 90% Thats the plan for now and i'm headin into it strong!!

milee nice suggestion that, only i saw it a lil late! tia, missin out on two months of prep was bad planning. But now that its done the best thing u can do is look forward, plan right and stick to it no matter what. Havin one reading behind u is a huge advantage to have and from here on u can only add to it. Trust me even if u've done the reading a long time back it always helps. With that in mind u need to fix a date and get two more readings done till then. You also need to buy Uworld, finish that during ur first read, and then start revising it as begin ur second read. An advantage with this is that when u r into ur second read by having done UW u will have a very good idea of what things u need to stress upon more. This will make the second read so much more productive. One important thing i'd advise is to do ur blocks in timed and random manner, not subject wise and in tutor mode. Additionally keep marking questions u r unsure about and ones which have high yield information, so that during ur revision u revise these questions and the ones u got wrong. This saves u time and helps u go thru important stuff during ur revision. Ideally keep some 200-300 questions unattempted, so that u can do them when u r done with the revision. This strategy i feel helps u use Uworld both as a learning as well as an assessment tool, and also gets u accustomed to the exam pattern where u'll be facing random questions and will have to shift ur thought patterns rapidly. I hope this helps And u need to fix targets and make sure u achieve them no matter what!

Now somethin bout the day gone by... Two days into my revision i'm right on schedule. Ah i love myself for that! From tomorrow i also start revising Uworld for about a week or so and then during the last three days of subscription go through my left over bunch of unattempted questions. The plan's right and i'm certain its goin to click. I just need to keep workin hard and sweatin it out. Everything else will surely fall into place. My babe's gettin a lil anxious though and i'm a lil worried for her. Not because she aint well prepared but because she gets too many negative thoughts into her mind which tends to spoil her prep towards the end. But i'm damn sure she's goin to blaze a trail come exam day. I love ma baby!!

Another day gone by, 18 left. As usual studyin went smooth, no major hiccups. Also started revisin Uworld today, started with the wrong ones. Its kinda tedious but definitely a must. Will finish with the wrong qs in another 2 days, then will move on to the marked ones. At this time i'm kinda unsure whether i should buy Kaplan Qbank. Dont have much time left so dont know how useful its goin to be. Need to decide bout it sooner than later. I feel its important to be doin new questions right uptill exam day, but i'm a lil confused on which ones to do. See wat i can come up with...

Hi milee, I think the plan i outlined to tia above should suit you perfect. This is just bout the right time for you to start doin Uworld. And if you work hard this last month there's no reason why you shouldn't get the score you want. You have the perfect opportunity awaitin you, just go ahead and grab it. Good luck!

about new q's maybe you can try kaplan qbook , the q's are not classic like the qbanks , but that way you can do new q's without stressing yourself out and while revising your subjects with uworld .

Shwe, Yep absolutely HY's got some good stuff inside Tia, I think ur doin the right thing. There's no reason why people around u shouldn't be able to understand ur need for seriously 'me' time. Live ur dreams, dont let em die out. And trust me people who love u always let u follow ur dreams, they might not always understand ur needs in the first instance but give them time and they'll surely know that ur dreams are as integral to their own, as theirs are to urs. And thanks for the wishes. Good luck to u too ! Milee, Hey that's exactly what i was thinkin of doin. Thanks for reinforcing the thought. You'r brilliant!
