ok then, here i am for my prep journal.

Havent started the studyin yet but hope to get started soon.
Infact i took my step 2 first and will probably have my result in 2 weeks time. Till en i'm goin to chalk up a nice n nifty plan for step 1.

I started the day by checkin out where i stand with no prep done. Took NBME 3 this afternoon. Got 580 (corresponds to 236). That aint a bad start at all! Maybe my Step 2 prep helped out.

I hope to put in 4 months of quality prep time. About 6 hours daily would probably suit me fine because i also intend to doa job during this interval. Havent got a job yet but hope to have it soon!

Wishin myself all the luck in the world!

Catchya soon!smiling face

I'm finally back after a long long hiatus. Feels good to be writin here again. My step one prep's already twenty days old and there's another month left until exam day. Have given myself a very short prep time. I feel pretty comfortable with the subjects thats why. So far its been smooth sailin. Am finished with one third of usmleworld. Have a very decent score so far; 83 %! I hope i live up to my expectations...

hey hi genbot

can u guide me on how one can use the usmleworld qbank effectively ?

Only UW is enough or one needs to do Kap qbank also for sure ?

Can UW be done just after first read of kaplan and First Aid , hoping the first read to be solid ?

Pls advice on this and my prep plan posted here:

Well bud i'm into my first read and i'm also doin uworld so dont really know what to tell you...I actually went about it a lil differently...before startin my prep i took an nbme to guage where i stood with regards to step one prep. Initially i was thinkin of givin myself four months of prep but for some reason i just couldn't go through with that and now i've given myself only around six to seven weeks of prep time. This because i performed pretty well on the NBME thing which it made easier for me to settle for a short prep period. Right now i'm bout to finish ma first read and my scores on uworld tell me that i'm doin pretty ok. Comin to your question i feel it'll be a good idea to start doin uworld after you're done with the first read if you have that kinda time on your hands. I just couldn't afford that luxury. And yes two qbanks is definitely better than one...wish you luck with your prep. Anymore queries you have you're welcome to post here...

The prep's goin smooth. I'm right on schedule! But one thing doin Qs on Uworld is gettin to be a lil borin. I need to somehow make it more interesting.

Four more days and i'll be done with my first read. Then NBME. Then revision. Then FA. Then exam day!

Bring it on!

So we're done with 2 more blocks of Uworld. Got pretty decent scores, 82 & 88%

I hope to finish Uworld by 15th of this month and then hopefully revise it till 24th.
Also i need to finish my book revision by 29th.
With that done i'll be left with 4 more days during which time i hope to go through FA...
Everythin seems to be workin nice and smooth till now, I just hope it goes on like this. smiling face
And maybe, just maybe even get betterwinknod

All my wishes and prayers are with u GENBOT...

Everythign will be fine .

Do keep up the spirits.

  #12

Thanks for the wishes Kalyann!

Bud i'm a huge optimist. Never give up. Never think the POSSIBLE is IMPOSSIBLE!

Got caught up with some stuff today, couldn't study. But no worries will start afresh tomo.

Managed to do a coupla blocks of Uworld though.
Got 88 & 90%smiling face

I think i'll shut shop for today now.

One thing i really need to get used to is sleepin early. These days i can only sleep at around 3. I've been tryin to go to sleep by 1 o'clock but despite my best efforts i just cant get my circadian rhythm to agree. Its so tough fightin insomnia. You totally hate it....I usually wouldn't mind goin to sleep late but with exams slated early in the mornin i want my mind to be in the best state possible aka at its freshest on the exam day.
Besides that i aint got no probs. The studyin's goin good. Lost a day but i hope to catch up on that.

Ah if only i could sleep early!shaking head

But never mind. Life's good and it can only get better!nod

I'm tryin to think up a really good schedule for my revision.
I got 17 days to fit it into.

But the question is wat sequence of subjects do i need to follow.
Or should i just do em all daily...but then i like continuity of thought.
Well i gotta decide on somethin soon.

Time to think really hard i guessconfused

  #20

Thanks Kalyann.
Yea i'm finally done with the first read. Was some effort this. But i aint finished yet, need to keep up the intensity for another three weeks. And tomorrow NBME awaits. I'm kinda anxious already...probably feelin the weight of my own expectations...but then a lil anxiety helps deliver a good performance...kinda silver lining to every cloud you see. Did only one block today. Got 88%. Thats more than decent i guess. Gives me a lot of confidece before tomorrow's test. So tomo we find out where i stand for now. And i'll be here again to tell you how i did. Till en its a bye and goodluck to me!

milee99 this is more hardwork than geniuso.
Trust me there's no substitute to hardwork. None whatsoever!
And importantly u need to know ur strengths and weaknesses. That is a must. Only then can u really be productive with the time spent studyin. And u also need to have a fair idea of what areas need to be stressed as regards the test.

Hardwork allied to smart studying is sure to get u thru, just remember that...
