it has been proposed that they may regulate transcription at a finer level by influencing the accessibility of specific transcription factors to their binding sites on particular promoters
remember there is H1 histone there... it doesnt let the solenoid to become a 10 nm strand...
so the chromosome stays condensed and transcription doesnt occur
B. the boundaries are also prsent in nucleosomal DNA

C. there are about 100bp in linker DNA

its implicated in transcription repression recently...
