Hello all, I am interested in GS for residency. I have to give a 20 min talk to my attendings/residents in a few weeks about any topic in general surgery. I was wondering if anyone has any good ideas? I've been searching for some time but haven't come up with anything good. The talk should be about something relevant but not commonplace so that it can contribute to the learning of the residents and be interesting at the same time. An idea I had was surgery in HIV patients, but I ran this by my resident and he said the topic was done a few months ago. Any other ideas? The reason I ask here is that you all are applying for GS residency and are perhaps a bit more aware of interesting topics/new areas of research going on in surgery. Thanks!

you can always talk about the current recommendations of the ATLS, basic resucitation protocols, that will always be a favorite. good luck
