if you are already in Boston see the info below, staying at the holiday inn is a good idea since they provide the transportation from and to the VA, it can cost up to 20 $ if you want to take a cab.
for me, i am driving from New Haven,

ARRIVING VIA OTHER PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
>
> Commuter Rail - (www.mbta.com) - From the South Station Train Station
> (central train station in Boston) you can take the Middleborough/Lakeville commuter
> train and get off at the BROCKTON station. When you get off the train
> you can call a cab. Two reliable companies are Yellow Cab (508)
> 583-1234 and Brockton Cab (508) 587-4000.
> If you do not wish to take a cab, you can walk across the street from
> the train station to the Brockton Area Transit (BAT) bus station and take the
> Route 3 - BAT bus to the VA Medical Center. The bus will leave you
off n front of Building 3 and from there you will walk to Building 5.

Thanks Madman,
Even I was in a quandary as to how to go about it.

  #4

by the way this is the direction to the VA, you may want to call the hotel and arrange a pick up from Brockton train station

thanks madmad!!
just one more ques..
how frequently does this commuter train come? i mean can i get one every 30 min or wait longer???? because if i can get one soon..i might think of coming thru amtrack to boston station, then take the commuter train n then cab n go directly to the iv ..otherwise i will book a room in holiday inn and arrive a night b4

also, is the brockton n boston station safe at night? the Iv will finish at 700 pm , do u think i can go directly to the station for my journey back ?
the idea is tht i want to hv a one night stay instead of 2...

i appreciate ur help!

Brockton is half an hour away from Boston South station and the earliest you can get there is 7:11 am. so basically you will be able to do it, i know nothing about safety, call the PC and ask her about that, hopefully you live near Boston, you don t want to go to the interview without having a good sleep the day before!
check this link for the schedule

Hi ujaala

How was your IV experience in South Shore? I've read a few negative feedbacks in scutwork.

Thanks

  #8

I have also heard that the invs thare are difficult, if possible pls provide details.

  #9

one friend of mine interviewed there last year
and was calling all types of names, to the pd, or the program
i think it is a difficult place to interview.

  #10

Hi puchpal

Could you please be more specific, what do you mean "was calling all types of names, to the pd. or the program"

Thanks

  #11

Yes, puchpal needs a strong translator! He always talks in the way that I hardly understand him! As if he's speaking in another langauge?!!

ok guys! just been thru the harvard south shore IV...n here is my experience

they r real nice ppl......the PD has just joined in july 2007 and so there will be some changes in the program....i had 3 IVs...2 with the attendings and 1 with the chief resident...
different interviewees will be interviewed by diff attendings...
the PD is extremely nice n so is the program coordinator....
one advice.....try to be there early ..coz the hospital is HUGE....i got lost n arrived late sad my bad luck....i ws just 5 min late but when i arrived the PD had already started his presentation....sad..so i ws the late comer...not a gr8 start for me
i also found a gr8 hotel just right across the road from VA brockton.. its quality inn on 1005 belmont street ..they charge 60$ per night (excluding taxes) so i got to stay for 2 nights for 146$
best of luck every1 n remember me in ur prayers!

have u called them?

  #18

No, but I received a rejection email so that should be the buttom line I guess.

  #19

I haven't been called or rejected either! I am planning to call the rest of the programs saying "I just wanted you to remember what an excellent candidate you have waiting! Hurry up and make your decision!" gringringringringrin

Agree. Lets make a new post with "difficult to get" interviews, at least when talking about from people who writes in this thread.
And second; could anyone teach how to post a quote in that blue nice rectangle?
