Hello everyone. I am scheduled to interview at St Barnabas NY in first week of december. Can someone please answer the following. Do they offer prematch to IMGs with scores of high 80s ?? They said there wud be a little quiz to judge you and your personality. Do they ask questions related to USMLE. I've been out of practice for 5-6 months so what books shud I read before going for IV ?? What wud be the best place to live when I goto NY ?? What are the residents like and what wud I do with the residents (never IV before :-)) Do I need to take any documents with me for the Interview ? Thanx for your time and feedback.

Heard a qs was tan (40) =? But how can we do it without using a calculator since it's not a special angle? tan(60-20) workable? No I really dont know. I ll answer it's between 1/1.732 and 1

hi dementeddoc Dont worry abt the quiz, some questions are related to ethics and few trigo.its just the value, u dont have to calculate.Yes, they do offer prematch to higher 80's.You will be interviewed by PD only. Residents are nice. Best of luck

the quiz is easy and i think they give u keep urself occuied. There is only one iv and it is hardly 2 to 3 mins with PD, if u are interested in prog then u need to e-mail them after the iv and if they are willing to give u prematch they will invite u for the second interview. about quiz question , i would advise that u dont read any book , there arent many medical questions.

LOL..one of my friends who interviewed there told me they do it so that the applicants dont make a lot of noise talking to each other, since they invite a lot of people together and put them all in a small room..no medical qs though..the interview is hardly 5-10 minutes and the first interview question is invariably: Where did you travel from today??dont worry about ur interaction with other residents..there wont be much of that..except the tour by the chief resident, whom u can ask a few qs..which i guess wont be needed because there is not much to ask about..sometimes there is a competetion as to who asks more questions and we forget that it is the substance of the q that we are asking that is important, rather than asking it for the sakes..good luck(make surre u have a healthy b'fast, for u wont get any there..but u'll come out way earlier than lunch time though

oh i forgot to answer some of ur questions. they dont require any documents, just go through the e-mails that they have sent , they have clearly said no to bring any of the documents with u. resident's evluation is not important in this program, there is no lunch so u wont be interacting with the residents, PD will definatly confirm that u want to persue ur future as a primary care physician and if u are really interested in the prog then do frame ur answer in that direction
