I read this in kaplan

"poor prognosis factors include fatigue, diaphoresis, pulsus paradoxus, inaudible breath sounds, decreased wheezing, cyanosis and bradycardia"

decreased wheezing is poor prognostic factor?

beats me.

it is logic ......

when the obstruction so marked >>>there will be no air passage either in inpiration or expiration

that is what we called ( silent chest )

so it has to be in conjunction of absent breath sounds.
the way it was written was confusing.

What if the patient is improving...there is not wheezing then....

I got the idea but I thought it was written poorly

Yes, fatigued chest/abdominal muscles induce no expriratory force resulting in decreased wheezing... Usually is an indication to intubation...
