Aww its called "the phone check", a commonly used strategy by PC and PDs to evaluate the candidate over a live chat on the phone line. It has long been established strategy since the early days of ERAS Match.

Good news Nadia!! Makes all of us really happy you received a call after thanksgiving, and gives us hope as well! This is the first year I apply, and I am not so sure about the possibility of more calls once Holiday season begins... Anyway, GOOD LUCK

Yeah Nuchpal!! You keep whining and complaining although you have like 15 IVs.. I just wanted to tease NeuroToPsych cause it is a bit odd to ask about Loyola Psych at a IMG dominant forum So just teasing him! I used to follow the SDN psych forum earlier and man, that was annoying! They all had 5-10 IVs in bigass programs before I get my first lazyass IV!

The good news, the strange news, and the bad news: I. I totally agree with you. With USCE I achieved 5 important goals: 1. The USCE by itself 2. The opportunity to publish in the Journals they actually read 3. US Letter of recommendation 4. The opportunity to demostrate your commitment for an academic career. 5. Networking. It´s mooooore important than I used to think. I´m not saying that an IMG can´t do it without USCE (actually I have a friend in a really good program without USCE). It´s a plus in your CV II. As I already posted previously in this forum, they sent me a rejection e-mail (they told me that a failed exam is an exclusion criterion). Why thy changed their mind?. I don´t care. As NTP says: There are no strange invitations, just invitations. III. Well, I suppouse they called because of my previous experience as volunteer at Penn, but if you search on the web there is only one IMG in their recent history. Then, the odds are against me.
