Have been following posts on this forum for a while now and am now staking my claim to IM residency in 2009. Abt me: - Singaporean Doctor currently serving the army - for you lucky sods who don't have to serve the army, be happy - in no other organization do you have the less-than-intelligent commanding the less-than-motivated to do the apparently-crazy in the name of enlightened self-defence - grand plan - IM residency --> oncology/haematology fellowship (the Sinai onc/haeme/palliative fellowship sounds sooo good) - recently single --> breakups are terrible (or was I too emotionally attached?), cost me a month of prep-time Starting with Step 1. Target - >260. Time frame - 4 months, exam on Feb 20 2009. Books: 1. 1st AID 2. Path - BRS 3. Physio - BRS 4. MB - Micro B made ridiculously simple 5. Immuno - immuno chapter from Jawetz 6. Gross Anat - Roadmap 7. Neuroanat - High Yield 8. Biochem - High Yield 9. Pharmaco - Katzung 10. Behavioural Science - BRS Other resources: 1. Kaplan's MedEssentials 2. Goljan Path Audio - burned it and play it in the car. So am revising path BD, 30-40 mins each time. Try it. 3. Odd resources from usmleworld.com and prep4usmle.com Plan: 1. Path/physio/MB/immuno - 1st reading bef November 2. Pharmaco - 1 system or 5 drugs a day, main r/v in End Nov 3. Anat, Neuro-anat, Biochem, Beh Science - Dec 4. Kaplan and USMLEworld starting end-Nov Progress: 1. Path/physio/MB/immuno - immuno - done - path 40% - physio - 20% - MB - virgin ground Please feel free to post your comments, advice, suggestions, questions. See you guys in the states.
