It took me really long since I graduated in 2001 to muster courage to give my step 1 in Jan 2008.
I have been reading the post in this site ..... and now I have decided to write a journal myself.
I m working in saudi arabia and there is no one around giving MLE to look up to.
So any words of encouragement will be highly appreciated .
At present I am readng Pharma from Katzung combined with Kaplan 04 notes. My goal is to finish antiviral drugs, and NSAID today and to do questions from both the books. Time to get back to study.

Hi amokochar.
Sometimes there is no one to look up to, or to help you out. Hopefully here you will find some persons that will motivate you.
We are all here to help each other, so take advantage of this community.

Few questions for you

1. List the drugs that make Lupus like syndrome. How will you remember these (mnemonic)??
2. Explain the pathophisiology of aspirin induced asthma.
3. Drug that specifically inhibit the lipooxygenase pathway?

Maybe we should combine ours posts. Just a thought.

Anyway good luck.

hi JavMD
Thanks for the reply and questions ....
I will try to ans these without lookng into the book as I want to see how well I remember.wink
Only Drugs that I can remember for lupus are procanamide and hydralazine shaking head u really cought me there.

Asprin is a non selective cox inhibitor so beside antiinflammatory effects from cox 1 inhibition the side effects like gastric mucosal damage, platelet inhibition, bronchospasm occur due to the cox 2 inhibition.
This cause disproportionate inc in the products of the Lox pathway hence leukoterens will cause bronnchospasm.

Leukoterens inhibition by zileuton (lox inhibitor) and various Leukasts (receptor -) sud help in asthma

Now I will chk the bookrolling eyes

PG analogs are also imp in this discussion ....wud u like to write about them.

I wud be happy to combine the posts just tell me how to do that.
