Hello everyone...I have been a silent but meticulous observer and follower of this support forum...for I have had problems with my step 3 over the past year. I had already finished tow years of fellowship training in Pathology and still needed to take step 3. Well after a few attempts I finally nailed it. Took the test oct8-9, in brooklyn and got my results, 196/80, yesterday. I'm glad its behind me now. My study material included: Washington manual, usmleworld, crush step 3 and swansons...I used Merck manual as well for arythmias and ophtalmology..Basically went thru all the chapters in the WM..including overdoses and schemes for various vaccinations..went thru Crush at least three times..and went thru all of the CCS cases on UW..until i was comfortable with them on paper, independently without looking.
Thats it. As far as my exam experiences...thru out my attemts, incuding this final successful one, the key is to feel comfortable and nail the MCQ's...once you have the behind you, you can be successful even if you mess up or are not happy with the way you dealt with the CCS cases. The ccs cases...are very simple once you know the tricks behind each case..you can blow each case away in five minutes. Anyways thanks to everyone and good luck to those ready to take the test or are waiting for results. My message...be persistent and never be beaten by this test. Alsways get back up on your feet and try to crush it!! wink

I really never constructed mock tests with UW...I did the questions one system at a time..until I new the answers to all of the questions for that particular topic...of course i mainly focused on the tutor mode and read carefully high yield info for each question. I would construct tutored tests of all the wrong questions for each subject. I believe scores varied between 65-75...for some topics...Also I would do a block of questions on a particular subject, then immediately read the chapter in WM. When i began to feel very comfortable..like near this successful attempt, after i had completed all questions from UW, I just did Crush/WM and then CCS..right dow to the last days before the test. I covered Swansons when doing the behavioral part of UW.
