Hi! Count me in! I am starting next week since I am moving this week. My goal is to take the test the first week of april. I did cardiology DVDs they are great! emergency medicine as well. Don't loose your time over dermatology. Quick question. Do we do Kaplan notes before or after the DVDs (or simultaneously?) Thanks GOOD LUCK to all of us and I am happy we have a study and support group!

hi...i have completed first reading of med n am doing surgery now...can anyone of u pls tell if its better to complete first reading of all subjects n then start usmle world....or to start doing questions simultaneously...thanks in advance...

From my experience you should do qs simultaneously. Otherwise you're loosing the point of your studying. You may study 6 months wo qs and when you start you may find out that you studied for nothing (it happened to my on step 1) 
My question is if we study Kaplan notes first and then do the DVDs?

my preparation:
finished all subjects 1st reading exept Pediatrics which I'm doing now
OBS/GYN----> 2 readings
watched DVDs for : Psychiatry&Epidemiology [ more than greeeeaaaaattttt ] , OBS/GYN [ also great] , surgery [ wasn't that good ].....and now watching pediatrics DVDs with the notes.
I think it will be more useful to watch DVDs before or simultaneously with the notes as you'll find your self adding lot of extra points to the notes...and then you can revise later with the notes alone.

Now I`m about to finish Gyna(notes+dvds)..so soon,i`ll have finished IM,Obs/Gyn(notes+dvds)..I`ll then go with Pediatrics or psychiatry.
I advise to watch dvds of gyna first then read the notes topic by topic;that professor makes it easy to understand and memorize what u read.
Generally speaking,one can watch dvds or read notes first and mixing between the 2 methods may prevent getting bored(I sometimes read a topic then watch the dvd and then do the reverse with another topic)
Now I want to go with active review for IM meaning by solving question from kaplan q book+nms review
also i have an account with NBME that i need to activate b4 20/1

im almost done w/ my first read, in fact will finish by tomm i think. then i plan on readin again n simultaneouly watchin the dvd's
then uw quest n' do a third reading....is all this possible by end of march?...haven't set up a date yet....

Hi guys,
I'm from belguim , I'll take my exam in april and I want to join you.
I'm studying internal medicine right now.
I don't have kaplan video but I Want to buy them from usmlepro or smart people, do you think that is a good idea???? especially that I bought kaplan books from E bay 1 month ago and I never receive them.

U dont have book stores offering those stuff in a good price?
U can make a copy of the dvds from a frnd in ur region.
Also U can download all of them;Get a torrent downloader(like bittorent)and find the dvds torrents on the torrentspy website.

DVDs by torrent is not a good idea I think...., you will spend your entire life waiting infront of your pc looking at the screen and waiting for them to be downloaded and they will not 
it's either buying them online or from a store or getting them from friend.....

It seems that Nach is expert in arabic language for chat cuz no one can get those words easily
Anyway,It is pleasure for us-egyptians-that ur mam is from here,Nach...and I really wish I could send u those stuff.
As nany said it takes along of time to download those torrents.but u can leave it working all day and night while u r doing ur own stuff.

for those who went through pediatrics, i would like to ask how they dealt with the chapter of development and growth and that so confusing tables? have anyone memorized them or this isnt a must?

Hi count me in too!
I'll be taking step 2 in march my target was 1st week, but I have done nothing till now  (read Blue prints medicine, but they don't seem to be of much use). So I guess I'll be taking in last week, but no further than march.
Guys, How imp are the dvds? seems that everyone is using them I don't have them and at this moment b coz of money constraints I can't get them either.
Any suggestions on a good source for IM? it is my weakest area... just kaplan notes won't suffice i think..

For me,I only read those tables of of growth and development and couldnt memorize all the details..I really dont know how mauch they r important.
Anyway When I practice pediatric questions it`ll appear if they r a must or not.

The dvds are not a must..i know ppl using the notes only.the main importance of dvds is that they may help u understand what is written in the notes..but as long u find it easy to go through the notes,no need for the videos then.....BTW,some ppl consider watching dvds a waste of time especially of some topics....So try to get them.if u cant,dont worry
As regards the IM,I guess kaplan plus Usme world are more than enough..UW question explanations are complementary to kaplan notes.
But it is ok to start with kaplan now.and if u can understand a point u can look it up in another textbook or even google it.
