A list of clinical/research electives available for UCLA medical students at your home institution is part of their requirement. I am not sure if that's the reciprocal relationship... I'll be rotating there in April. I already got accepted. So, it's open for international medical students.

"A list of clinical/research electives available for UCLA medical students at your home institution is part of their requirement." ... Well, we don't have such thing over here!!! Nice, good for you. Do you know of any Visiting Electives available before sixth year of medical school (before last year)?

Some of my classmates applied to Mt. Sinai, Sloan Kettering, and Cornell. They had no problems being not in the final year of medical school because our final year is already equivalent to 1st year US residency. You can try applying to these institutions. HMS and Yale do not accept student not in their final year... Goodluck!!!

Majority of us will be attending UCLA electives this April. We got accepted although we're not yet in the final year since we presented a Dean's letter indicating our final year= 1st year US residency...

I do not think so. These electives are "clinical rotation electives" such as pediatrics, general surgery, family medicine, and so on. There is no such thing as "basic science electives". They are called BASIC, you know.
