i have applied in IM on sept, 1st..have 7 intv calls most of them are from avg programs, unfortunately havent heard from the progs in which i am intrested..i was thinking abt applying in FM of those progs..is it too late to apply or can i go ahead and apply...
just want to mention my application is complete with scores of 99/97, 2 uslor and dont need visa.

What do you risk if you gonna apply at the end of oct to FP? Just some money.
But think if the FP is what you want to do in the future!

i agree with u NE family med is def not my first priority i am using it as my backup i dont know if matching in avg IM prog is good or trying for fm and getting into a good prog,,,provided i get a chance

well i thought of that too.......... so i applied yesterday to couple of FM programs,
and u wont believe it, one of them downloaded my application at 9:30 am, and i recieved the amazing regret letter exactly at 10 :00 am.......
So u can judge that by yourself......... applying at this time is a waste of money most likely bcz they have sent IVs, and they will definately have their own waiting list of those people who already applied on Sep.1st which is again a fair game.

Kumar, I supposed you want a good program because you want a good fellowship. I know physicians from average programs who got very good fellowships.
Make efforts, don't worry, be happy! ( this is what a great man said and I believe it's important to do whatever you can to follow your dream but if this dream doesn't become true just keep walking. Another door is going to open for you!)

Guys, don't lose your hope! I just see - somebody received an invitation email from a hospital which sent me the same email 1 month ago !Which means it is not too late!

thank you so much NE, holydoc, amer44 for ur replies really appreciate it...
i dont know what to do still ....i think i shld apply to few progs atleast i wont regret afterwards that i didnt do whatever could have been done...
the one thing which is making me more uncomfortable is this is my 2nd attempt for match i applied last yr too but at that time i applied with just one score and then i applied in MI only bcoz of my family issues,,,so this time i really want to match somewhere so that i can start working,,,

kumar you have geat credentials. Why you didn't match last year? How many IVs you had?
Do you have any university program IVs among these 7 ones?

I can understand your desperation. I also am applying with only one score this year. But now you have complete application and good score.
So I think your best chance is this year.
As far as applying FP it is a consolation thing. Go ahead and do it. It will be just some money that you will earn in your lifetime anyway.
But it comes to choice, what you want to do for the REST of your life...
I will do what I really love...IM
so thats just me. But I understand where you are coming from .... having done so much in your life and still feeling helpless due to being IMG, family restrictions for applying some single state and sitting home can be highly furstrating.
so if you are ready for compromise...nothing bad in it. That is real life.
but that decision is so far away...apply to programs if that makes you feel better, gives some hope and opens up a parachute saving you from hard landing.

last yr i applied in MI state only bcoz of family issues and i applied with only step1 score i got certified in dec..i had 2 iv at that time but my bad luck...didnt match
yeah this yr so far i have 2 univ prog calls..suny upstate and st. louis univ, missouri

hey sachida thanks for ur kind and genuine advive.... IM is my passion if family med would haev been my choice i would have applied in sept...the only reason i didnt apply was i dont see myself practicing in fm...but this match thing is getting on my nerves...
but i will go ahead and apply..atleast it will make me comfortable that i did all what i could do..rest will leave it to God...He will do the best for all of us...
