A 53 yo man is noted to be tachipneic and confused 48h after suffering multiple orthopedic and internal injuries in MVA.
Chest x-ray is interpreted as normal but arterial blood gas values are: pH 7,49, PO2 52, PCO2 30 mm Hg. The course of action most likely to confirm the diagnosis would be to
1. order a ventilation-perfusion scan
2. order a pulmonary angio
3. order impedance pletismography
4. order bllod testing for fibrin split products
5. repeat a physical exam

I think the next best step is a V/Q scan since this patient belongs to teh high probability category.However, for confirming the daignosis, we have to do a Pulmonary angiography
