hi I have been in the States for 3 months now on a tourist visa, planning to sit for the USMLE within the next 6 months. Kaplan will only provide the I-20 form ( for conversion to student visa ) if i register for the live lectures or the center prep ( i had initially wanted to do the WebPrep), which leaves me the other option of asking for a 6 month extension on my tourist visa. Has anyone faced this problem and is there a better way around it to stay in the States during this time? Any information will be greatly appreciated. t.i.a.

hi there. thanks for the reply. thing is, i'm in the states already with family members here, and will probably be here for some time. Therefore i would rather take my exam here. can you share about your experience with the student visa? You had to get the I-20 forms and where did you enroll? thanks again. letti

Hello letti, I'm in a kind of the same situation - I'm planing to come to the US on a tourist visa and then to take kaplan courses hoping that they will give me a student visa. For how long will the Kaplan's student visa give you right to stay in the US (I'm planing to register for in center live lectures)? thanks in advance, Vitaly.
