I have three interviews scheduled so far, but all have been very strange. The first program emailed my private email address "would you be interested in an interview IF offered?" After I replied that I would be, they then called me on the phone. Numbers two and three just called, no email foreplay. They offered the interview and scheduled the interview date in the same phone call. Confirmations for all 3 iv's, relevant program, hotel and travel info came to my home address by snail mail. Not one of the programs have ever contacted me via ERAS mail. The only electronic contact from any of them is the initial email from program #1. What the heck is going on? Why all the cloak and dagger? I would think it would be easier for each program to send 300 emails than to stuff, stamp and mail 300 letters.

i got mostly my interviews via private email and not via eras. but i don t think that this has any significance. i also receive a phone call which was wierd ...they told me that they don t understand what is my current visa ) i mean...well...it was there in the application ..j1...what was not clear i don t know. maybe they just wanted to check my voice if it souds funny (paranoid traits i know )

my 2 cents worth could it be that they may want to offer you a pre-match and thus do not want any evidence of contacting you via ERAS? i hope this does not make me look paranoid, but this is plausible right, dane?

Do they do that??? I mean do they have to email you directly so that they may offer you a prematch? In other words, they cant offer a prematch if they call u up via ERAS? Chrystal, I think this is overthought.

i dont think the contact through eras really matters. some programs have utilised eras, others have utilised both..i guess it would be a matter of personal preference and secretary tradition.

Thank for the replies all. I'm happy for the iv's no matter how they came, but I was just surprised. I mean, what are the odds that one person would get all their interviews by untraditional snail mail in this electronic age?

Hee. Maybe I am over-analysing. I am just trying to offer an explanation for the phenomenon Dane described.
